Next series of Swing
Dance Classes
begin.
◊ 6-Week
Beginner Class.
Learn to swing dance!
This class will get you out on the dance floor ASAP!
No partner required - single dancers welcome!
This is the class designed to get you
started, and for those new or relatively new to swing dancing, especially
the 1930's and 40's styles of swing dancing.
◊
Intermediate Lindy Hop Class.
Continue to build on what you learned in the 6-Week Beginner Class!
If you've completed the 6-week beginner class, you should take these
classes!
This class series will take your swing dancing beyond the basics, but also
continue to focus and strengthen solid technique. Each intermediate class
series is different and unique, with a different area of emphasis, so you
can take intermediate level classes as long as you like. After taking these
classes, you'll not only have more moves, but you'll feel more confident on
the social dance floor!

The Great Music of the
Big Band Swing-Era:
a presentation by Dr. Dick Domek.
Dr. Domek is a Professor
of Music at UK and co-director
of the Kentucky Jazz
Repertory Orchestra (KJRO).
Using
KJRO’s newest CD release,
Flying Home
as
a point of reference,
Dr. Domek will provide an illuminating (and swing dancer friendly)
presentation on the music of the Big Band swing-era. He’ll discuss why the
music was so popular with the swing-era generation; and why that music
continues to resonate and remain popular with today’s swing dancers, music
aficionados and the general public.

"Let
Us Never Forget" Charity Event.
"Let Us Never Forget"
is a scholarship fund founded in 2006 to commemorate
fallen service members from the Cincinnati, OH area. The
program was expanded in 2008 to include all U.S. states.
Mike & Mary Richardson were asked to coordinate some of the entertainment -
and we are very proud and excited to be a part of this event!
This event will include:
o Dinner & Silent Auction
o Music for dancing by Blair Carman & the Belleview Boys
o Entertainment during the band's break by the Hepcats
and swing dancers from the Cincinnati, OH area.

Blair Carman and the Belleview Boys are playing at
Jim & Jack's on the River, 3456
River Rd., Cincinnati, OH (513-251-8977). 7-10 pm.
Blair Carman will be playing for the entire evening. Jim & Jack's has
a nice dance floor, so there should be some good dancing! $10 cover.
(Jim Jack's also has good food, so get a bite to eat before the
event.)
Directions to Jim & Jack's from Lexington (about 1.45 hours
from Lexington): Take I-75 north. After you cross I-75 north
into Ohio, take exit 1G to the right, stay on the ramp onto US-50 toward
US-50/River Rd/Linn Street. Follow River Road to #3456, which will be
on your right. Jim & Jack's also has ample parking. |
