Class Description Info:
This
is the class for those new or relatively new to swing dancing, especially
the 1930's and 40's style of swing dancing.
We'll start with the original swing dance, the Lindy Hop, with
emphasis on techniques for leading and following, and unique styling tips.
We'll also add the side by side Lindy Charleston, a really cool
pattern! This 6 week class is designed to get you out on the
dance floor ASAP, but also provide a solid foundation and develop
essential lead/follow skills. This class also provides good preparation for
intermediate classes taught by the Hepcats.
Beginners and newcomers to the Hepcats should start with the
Beginner Class and progress from there. We encourage those that have
taken swing dance lessons at other locations to also start with the
Beginner Class in order to learn the fundamentals and styling techniques
taught and provide a firm foundation for the Club's intermediate lessons.
Are there Pre-requisites for these classes?
There
are
no pre-requisites for the 6-Week Beginner Class.
|
| Drop Ins. This 6 week class
series is progressive. Beginner Class registration is closed after
the second lesson of each 6-Week Class. This allows students to
progress at a quicker pace, as instructors do not have to repeat lesson
material every time new students drop in.

Private
lessons are an excellent way to really improve your dancing.
Maybe you
need some extra help with some of material from the beginner class. Or
perhaps you didn't quite get that cool but tricky pattern in the
intermediate class. A private lesson may be just what you need.
A big advantage to private lessons
is that you get individual feedback and attention from working
with the instructors. Private lessons can help solidify your
dancing and help get you to the "next level". Private lessons are
great for learning material not covered in the Hepcats group
classes.
We
all develop "kinks" and bad habits in our swing dancing. Private
lessons are one of the best ways to work those out before they become
ingrained in our technique and "muscle memory". And one of the best
ways to learn to swing dance in the least time is with private lessons.
Private lessons can be arranged for individuals or couples.
