The University of Kentucky
Jazz Ensemble

The University of Kentucky Jazz Ensemble (UKJE)
consists of the most talented students in the nationally recognized and award winning UK Jazz Studies program.
UKJE is directed by Miles Osland, Professor of Saxophone
and Director of Jazz Studies in the University of Kentucky
College of Fine Arts, School of Music.

UKJE is a 17 piece orchestra that plays many classic, swing-era arrangements, but also some different, but still swingin' charts, such as songs from the famous Count Basie and Frank Sinatra "Sinatra at the Sands" performance at the Sands Hotel in Las Vegas.

Featured vocalist for UKJE is band member Ian Cruz, known affectionally by the band as the "Cuban Sinatra".  Ian will sing some great charts by Frank Sinatra and Bobby Darin.  Ian also plays a mean saxophone!

The UK Jazz Ensemble students look forward to playing for swing dancers, jazz music aficionados, and all those interested in dancing, and listening, to the great music of the Big Bands!

See you at the
Battle of the Big Bands
on April 14th!
