Class Descriptions:
T’Ain’t what you do, it’s the way that you do it (1:00-2:00 pm).  Some swing dancers know a lot of moves, but what draws your eye to a certain dancer or couple on the dance floor?  That’s what we’re looking for in this class!  For this class we’ll dance a short routine and add that “wow factor” that will help make your dancing really stand out!
Slides and footwork that impress the *%LL out of people (2:10-3:10 pm).  Why not slide across the dance floor?!  Mike & Mary Richardson (founders of the Rhythm Cats Lindy Hop performance group) are known for their slides and fancy footwork, and for this class you’ll learn their secrets for leaders and followers for these really cool moves.  Guys/leaders:  wear shoes with a hard leather sole; tennis shoes with rubber soles, boots or other type shoes not allowed for this class.  Girls/followers: wear shoes you can easily spin and turn in; high heels or “spiked” shoes not recommended for this class.
Tea for Two, and Two for Tea (3:20-4:20 pm).  The Tandem (or Back to Back) Lindy Charleston looks really cool.  For this class we’re going to learn some variations of this classic move, to include the “Leader in Front” variation.  After this class, you may even want to go out and buy a bicycle built for two!

To Compete or Not to Compete, that is the question (4:30-5:30 pm).  No dissing of Mr. Bill Shakespeare intended, but there is no question  - -  you should compete - - and you’ll learn some of the Rhythm Cats secrets for competing!

The Hepcats believe fun and friendly competition type activities are beneficial to helping any Lindy Hopper improve.  One of the best ways for an individual to take their swing dancing to the “next level” is to participate in jam circles, a performance group, a couples or Jack & Jill contest, etc.  These activities get the competitive juices flowing and are often a catalyst for individual improvement.

In this class you'll get practical tips and pointers on how to incorporate your current repertoire of moves (and possibly some new moves) into a competition format, such as a jam circle or contest.  The instructors will conduct a series of short,  “practice” competition type sessions where you’ll get feedback on your performance.  Fear not, feedback will be positive and constructive and designed to make you a better swing dancer!  This class will not only increase your confidence for competition activities but your overall ability level on the social dance floor!

 See you there!
